The Podcast

The human stories behind delivery, change and the work that nearly didn’t ship.

Real people, real projects, awkward pivots, brave decisions, messy middle bits and the stories that never make it into the polished case study.

This is not a highlights reel. It is a podcast about the human side of delivery, change and leadership, where the interesting bit is usually the detour.
What the show is really about
The messy middle

The show lives in the bit people usually edit out: doubt, politics, pivots, mistakes, timing, trust and the moment someone has to make a call.

Human stories Conversations with people who have actually been in the room.
Useful lessons Practical ideas without turning every episode into a lecture.
Good energy Curious, honest, light enough to enjoy, useful enough to keep.
Season 2

The Stuck to Shipped Sessions

Season 2 brings the show closer to the VOLTS world without losing what made it work in the first place: proper conversations with interesting people. The focus is the moment good work nearly stalled, what changed, and what listeners can learn from the detour.

  • The stuck moment: where the work nearly drifted, died or got buried in process.
  • The human bit: what was hard, awkward, political, emotional or unexpectedly funny.
  • The decision: the moment that created movement.
  • The shipped lesson: what listeners can take into their own work on Monday.

The heart of the show

Real stories.
Real delivery.
No case-study gloss.

Deadlines & Detours started from a simple belief: the best lessons in digital transformation rarely come from the polished version. They come from the messy stories, the near misses, the unexpected pivots, and the people who had to keep going when the plan got weird.

Every episode is a conversation with someone who has done something interesting, hard, brave or useful. Sometimes it is about technology. Sometimes it is about leadership. Sometimes it is about careers, confidence, pressure, creativity or change. The thread is always the same: what really happened, what changed, and what can we learn from it?

Season 2 keeps that heart and connects it more clearly to VOLTS: stuck work, better decisions, proof over opinion, and the long, bendy road from idea to shipped outcome.
